Here at The Wayward there are few things we love more than swapping travel tips – especially when they involve food. That’s why we asked author, dietitian and founder of Elsa’s Wholesome Life , Ellie Bullen for her absolute favourite places to eat, drink, play, stay and connect with nature when in Bali.

Ellie lived in Bali while she was developing content for her breathtaking new plant-based cookbook The Global Vegan ($34.99, Plum/Pan Macmillan), so you can rest assured all her tips are straight out of her personal little black book. Now excuse us while we go and check airfare prices, we can feel a Bali break coming on.

BALI’S BEST VEGAN BRUNCH SPOT

Quince Bali - I love the Australian vibes of the menu here. They use lots of fresh herbs and flavours in the dishes, there are plenty of vegan options on the menu. Be sure to check out the homeware store inside the cafe, so many cute ceramics.

BALI’S BEST LONG LUNCH

Peloton Supershop - Peloton is my favourite vegan cafe in Berawa. I have designed a mini menu for them so you can come and try one of my smoothie bowls while you’re in Bali!

BALI’S BEST VEGAN DINNER

Mason, Canggu - This is one of my favourites to go to for dinner and drinks with a big group of friends. They have a yummy cocktail menu and a great menu of share style dishes. It caters for all types of diets hence I love taking friends here when they’re visiting Bali.

BALI’S BEST BAR

The Lawn, Canggu - The view from the top deck of the Lawn is the best place to watch the sunset over the ocean and have a cold drink.

BALI’S BEST HIKE

All of the waterfalls are great hikes, such lush greens on the walks and its so nice to go for a cool dip after a hot and sweaty hike, I really loved Sekumpul Waterfall.

BALI’S BEST SUNSET

The view of the sunset from the cliffs at Uluwatu is absolutely stunning. This view is also my favourite during the day, watching the waves and surf while sipping on a fresh coconut, can’t beat it!

BALI’S BEST MASSAGE

Therapy, Canggu – My favourite spa for a relaxing massage. We switch between the foot reflexology and the healing act. I always feel so relaxed and content after.

BEST BEACH

Boating around neighbouring island Flores (about a 1 hour 45 minute flight from Denpasar) has to be favourite in terms of ocean/water. The water is so clear and bright. It's just the best way to see the islands and snorkel.

BALI’S BEST YOGA CLASS

The Practice, Canggu

I love this yoga studio. It is really popular so expect classes to be busy.

BALI’S BEST DAY TRIP
I love going up to Ubud for the day to have some good food – I love Kismet. Visit the markets, waterfalls and rice paddies for some great photo opportunities.

BALI’S BEST HOTEL

The Slow is is my favourite hotel to stay at. It's really central to Canggu so makes getting places by foot easy. I also love the menu at their restaurant plus the styling of the hotel/rooms.

BALI’S BEST SPA BREAK
Living in Bali I actually didn’t stay in too many different villas as we rented long term. But for a special occasion I loved to book in at Fivelements for a relaxing getaway. Their spa rituals are a must do while staying and a flower bath at your villa overlooking the river is a must.
