January may still be seven weeks away but this week marks a huge energetic shift that almost feels like a new year. There is plenty of movement in the sky (new moon in Scorpio, Uranus retrograde in Aries) but we’re most excited for Jupiter to move into Sagittarius.

For the past 13 months Jupiter has been in Scorpio, casting light on the parts of ourselves we usually sweep under the carpet. It has been a season of intense self-enquiry. If you resisted surrendering to it, chances are something unexpected popped in your life up that forced you take notice of that little voice inside that’s been trying to get your attention.

The energy urged us to reconsider what we want, what we need and what we desire in our relationships, our work and our community. It has illuminated the projections and stories we that hold us back and keep us playing small. It has forced us to look at our shadow head on, to shed the skin we have outgrown. The work has not been easy, but so very necessary.

Now after a long period of turning inward, there is light at the end of the tunnel. In the coming weeks it may feel someone has struck a match within you. A flame appears. A fire is lit. If you’ve been feeling stuck or uncertain, you may begin to feel more motivated or brave.

Like emerging into the daylight after being in a dark cinema – or a ghost train – the light might be overpowering at first, but once your eyes adjust, you begin to see where you need to go. Exactly how you’ll get there might not be clear yet, but you’ll find the strength to start putting one foot in front of the other. Now is the time to act, move, initiate. You’ve got this.
